Snakeskin jasper beads (sometimes spelled snake skin jasper beads) offer mesmerizing patterns that can look like the skin of an exotic serpent! This semiprecious gemstone is said to offer protection and invincibility. There are two distinct varieties of snakeskin jasper. The red version displays sleek bands and patches of pale-to-deep red. The green gemstone (which we currently stock) incorporates earthy grays, browns and greens. Jaspers in general were favored gemstones in the ancient world, and the name "jasper" can be traced back in Hebrew, Assyrian, Persian, Greek and Latin. Jasper has been called the great "rain-bringer," and it has been used to strengthen the stomach, cure gynecological troubles, drive away evil spirits, and protect against snake and spider bites.
