Cinnabar & Resin Beads

Our cinnabar components are made from a safe, molded red resin that retains the visual effect of intricately-carved antique beads and centerpiece pendants. (True antique cinnabar is a red mercuric sulfide which is very toxic and no longer used for jewelry.) Other types of Asian resin beads available include faux horn & bone, imitation ivory and faux amber beads—plus, colorful Indonesian resin beads with a matte finish that resembles sea glass. Because these matte-finish beads are made in small batches in a cottage industry, their colors vary greatly from batch to batch, and some sizes and shapes are not always available.

Our Indonesian recycled-glass beads and African recycled-glass beads also resemble sea glass.
